Inspired by the desire to give agency to Simone, the female antagonist of Bataille's controversial erotic novel, "Story of the Eye," this video reclaims her story through a collage of sound and image told from her perspective rather than that of the nameless male narrator. A meditation on sexuality, violence, temptation, and guilt, “bataille, chapter 12” centers on the novel's 12th chapter where Simone seduces a priest into an orgy before the group murders him.
